YIIDEC 2024 Award Night
Kuala Lumpur, 17th May – The Youth Innovative Interior Design & Architecture Challenge 2024 (YIIDEC), held at the MDMT Ballroom in Jelatek Shopping Centre KL, was a resounding success, drawing approximately 150 attendees. The event, officially organized by rekatone.com, with Fuyu Dezain (Central Region) and Johnids Interior Design Studio (Northern Region) as co-organisers, celebrated the creativity and innovation of young designers from across the nation.
Participants from a diverse range of tertiary institutions showcased their exceptional talents, including students from Taylor’s University and College, UCSI, UiTM (Sarawak), Shah Alam Community College, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang, and Equator College Penang. The challenge culminated in an inspiring awards ceremony that highlighted the best in interior design and architecture.
YIIDEC 2024 Live Judging
Sri Kembangan, 4th April – The Youth Innovative Interior Design & Architecture Challenge (YIIDEC) 2024 held its highly anticipated live judging session at the Fuyu Dezain HQ, a key co-organizer of the event. The full-day programme brought together an esteemed panel of judges comprising key industry players from various fields of expertise, including property development, interior design, architecture, green technology, and academic institutions. The panel included representatives from prominent organizations such as the Malaysia PropTech Association (MPA), S.U.A Interior Design, Arte Axis Design Group, Arkitek Mustapha Kamal, GreenTech Ideaslab, HCK Capital Group, and Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL).
The judging session saw more than 100 submissions from across the nation being meticulously evaluated. After thorough deliberation, the judges narrowed the entries down to the Top 30 Finalists. The event highlighted the innovative spirit and creative potential of young designers, showcasing groundbreaking ideas and forward-thinking approaches in interior design and architecture.
YIIDEC 2024 Launching Event
Cheras, 7th March – The stage was set for innovation and creativity as the Youth Innovative Interior Design & Architecture Challenge was officially launched at rekatone.com Event Hall in Cheras. The event saw close to 50 attendees, including distinguished representatives from prominent organizations such as Fuyu Dezain, Johnids Interior Design Studio, Arte Axis, S.U.A Interior Design, Arkitek Mustapha Kamal and Malaysia PropTech Association (MPA).
Highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between rekatone.com with Fuyu Dezain and Johnids Interior Design Studio as the co-organisers and Malaysia PropTech Association as the supporting association – marking a significant collaboration that promises to push the boundaries of innovation in interior design and architecture. This partnership underscores the commitment of industry leaders towards fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the design community.
YIIDEC 2023/2024 Roadshow
The Youth Innovative Interior Design & Architecture Challenge (YIIDEC) 2023/2024 Road Show was a dynamic and engaging series of events held throughout the 4th quarter of 2023 and the 1st quarter of 2024. This roadshow journeyed from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, making stops at several prominent educational institutions. Key universities and colleges that hosted the roadshow included UCSI, Equator College, The One Academy, and UOW Malaysia KDU Penang.
During these visits, the roadshow reached close to a thousand students, offering them a unique opportunity to engage directly with the challenge and gain insights into the world of innovative interior design and architecture. A significant highlight of the roadshow was the presence of Dr. Daniele Gambero, the President of the Malaysia PropTech Association and the Head of Panel Judges for YIIDEC – providing students with an invaluable up-close and personal experience, allowing them to understand more about the YIIDEC, its objectives, and the rigorous evaluation process. His insights enabled students to better prepare their submission materials, ensuring they met the high standards expected in the competition.
YIIDEC2024 Dream Team
The Youth Innovative Interior Design & Architecture Challenge (YIIDEC) 2024, led by Mr. Jacky Chuah, Founder & CEO of rekatone.com, is set to inspire and nurture the next generation of design talents. Jacky Chuah, a visionary in the field, is passionate about providing a platform where young designers can enhance their skills, gain exposure, and build valuable networks.
YIIDEC 2024 serves as a launchpad for Interior Design and Architecture students, encouraging them to engage in cross-learning opportunities and network with prominent industry professionals and peers across the region. The challenge aims to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration among emerging designers, equipping them with the tools and connections needed for a successful career.
The organizing team consists of approximately 10 dedicated in-house event crews, with robust support from co-organizers Fuyu Dezain and Johnids Interior Design Studio. Additionally, the event benefits from the enthusiastic participation of student volunteers from various academic institutions, contributing to a dynamic and well-rounded event crew.
YIIDEC 2024 is more than a competition; it is a vibrant community that champions the growth and development of young designers, paving the way for a brighter future in the fields of interior design and architecture.
